Rebecca Morris is

a painter living and working in Los Angeles

Recently Rebecca Morris returned to the Chicago area where she was having a show of drawings in a intimate gallery in Oak Park, very near the Ferarra-Pan candy factory. Morris had lived and worked in Chicago for nearly a decade before heading west to set up a studio in L.A. She lives with musician, Chris Heenan. Babygorilla.com interviewed her over tea.

BGC: So what can you eat in one sitting.

RM: Because I want to or because I have to?

BGC: Want to.

RM: Hmm...

BGC: Could you finish a large frozen pizza?

RM: Yes.

BGC: A pint of Ben and Jerry's?

RM: Easily.

BGC: Two?

RM: I'm sure I could but I doubt I would ever have the motivation

BGC: What's the largest tray of brownies you could eat.

RM: In one sitting, I could easily polish off an 8" by 8". I have eaten an entire bowl of Tollhouse cookie dough.

BGC: In one sitting?

RM: Yeah, but it was one long sitting.

BGC: Cupcakes?

RM: Six.

BGC: Krispe Kreme doughnuts?

RM: I could eat eight if they were hot, but only four to five if they were cold. Normally, in my life, I eat healthy servings and I don't feel the need to clean my plate. I just want to set this straight.

BGC: Fine, fine, fine. How about Life Cereal?

RM: Three Bowls.

BGC: That's all?

RM: It's all the milk.

BGC: Bananas?

RM: Two and a half. I can eat a whole cantalope... or a whole cake.

BGC: What else could you eat in it's entirety?

RM: A summer squash, a package of poptarts, an Annies Package of Mac & Cheese. I could eat any package of Pepperage Farm Cookies. I can also drink a lot of water. I actually do drink a great deal of water daily.

BGC: Coke?

RM: One liter, almost two, I used to drink a lot more coke than I do now. In grad school a can of coke and a bag of microwave popcorn was a typical meal.

BGC: What won't you eat?

RM: I really don't like spaghetti squash, I won't eat turnips, or babycorn. My grandmother, Ruth Young, has always said "I like anything except cooked peaches."

BGC: Would you like some more tea?

RM: No. Thank you.
